As Satoshi and his friends continue their journey, they meet two brothers named Ryuji and Hajime who each have a Nyaonix as their partner Pokémon. The two have been traveling separately, but are now both on their way back home after a long absence. But despite the two meeting again for the first time in a long while, there's a really strained atmosphere between them.
When the two of them reach their house, their father orders them to undergo a trial to determine which of them will become his heir... and Satoshi and his friends will be assisting them in this trial!
